Bodhi is Sanskrit and translates to “awakening” or “enlightenment”.

In the context of yoga it signifies a profound state of spiritual awareness and liberation. It’s a journey of self-discovery, transcending limitations through expansion of consciousness, and realising one’s true nature. The journey involves cultivating mindfulness, compassion, and wisdom through practises like meditation, yoga asana and pranayama (breathwork). Within the modern-day lifestyle, Bodhi also plays an important role. In the fast-paced world, Bodhi offers a path to inner peace and tranquillity. By embracing mindfulness and self-awareness, individuals can navigate challenges with greater clarity and resilience. Yogic practises can help us to connect with our inner selves, reduce stress, and cultivate a sense of well-being. Asana you can expect to cover during the month of February are Vrksansana (Tree), Padmasana (Lotus Pose), and Virabhandrasana (Warriors Poses). We will be balancing the Nadis (energy lines within the body) through Nadi Shodhana Pranayama (Alternate Nostril Breathing) and Ujjayi Pranayama (Victorious Breath). Hand gestures are one way of helping you ground yourself or energise your body amongst other things so we will be learning about Gyan Mudra- the gesture of knowledge and wisdom, and Jnana Mudra- the gesture of enlightenment. Join me during the month of February at any of my Yoga classes for a journey through Bodhi. Through a regular practise and sincere commitment to the path of Bodhi, we can all aspire to awaken to our true potential and experience the profound benefits of Bodhi.
